The MS Regatta is at the heart of MS Harborfest Weekend. Now in its 36th year, the MS Regatta is the longest running and largest charitable sailing event in Northern New England and on the GMORA Circuit.
Pre-race festivities: Friday, Aug, 18th: Skippers meeting at 6pm, followed by the MS Benefit Auction featuring over 300 items, food and drinks. Skippers can earn additional auction passes by fundraising for crew and guests. Auction tickets can be purchased at the door.
Amazing Racing Experience: Saturday, August 19th events start with the first gun at 12:30pm with the MS Regatta's expert race committee overseeing three courses of varying lengths through Portland Harbor to Clapboard Island. We have racing, cruising, one-design and classic divisions. Class sizes are kept small and well separated to reduce stress on our novice skippers and crews as well.
Post Race Celebration: At the conclusion of the race, join all skippers and crew at the Post Race Party! Enjoy a hearty feast donated by local businesses, including Longhorn Steak House, Cozy Harbor lobsters, and Shipyard Brewing beverages. Awards will be presented, including the highly coveted Greenhorn Award for Best Rookie boat and the Team Spirit Award, which receives a five pound whoopee pie. Additional tickets can be earned through fundraising or can be purchased 2 weeks prior to the event.
Making a Difference: The MS Harborfest Regatta is the largest regatta in Casco Bay and on the GMORA circuit. There are a lot of points at stake for those competing for the Dirigo Bowl. But more importantly, the event raises thousands of dollars which help fund local services for over 3,000 Mainers affected by MS so they can live their best possible life, and fund research initiatives to STOP MS, RESTORE what it has taken, and END MS forever.
The MS Harborfest Regatta is a highly anticipated tradition spanning 36 years. Come this year to experience a Great Maine Sailing Adventure, knowing that you are making a difference for someone right here in Maine.
